Awareness and Advocacy of Government Schemes:
People living on the margins are mostly ignorant of schemes run by the government that could benefit them. To make them aware of what they’re eligible for and what they can demand from the government, we run awareness programs about government schemes. Through these programs, people also learn about the application procedure, documentation required etc. These sessions are held once a month, and cover topics such as Mahatma Phule Mandal, Annasheb Patil Vitta Mandal, Prime Minister Employment scheme, Self Help Group, Women and Child Development Welfare scheme etc. Our focus now is on making community members independent to avail of these benefits.
Vocational training:
PSS organizes vocational training programs for members of the community to help them become employable. For women in particular, we have organized sessions on beautician training and cooking. The response and participation in the programs has been encouraging and we now see families supporting and encouraging women to work or set up their own business once they are trained.
