ICDS Awareness

Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), started by the Government of India, is a critical national program aimed at achieving the overall development of children. The main objectives of the program are:

  • Improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age group 0-6 years
  • Lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child
  • Reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school drop-out

PSS has been organizing awareness campaigns in the community to highlight the roles and responsibilities of Anganwadi Sewika under ICDS program. We explain the process and system of ICDS so that people can effectively avail their services. We also receive feedback from the community about areas of improvement for anganwadis.  We have also worked with 10 anganwadis each from Appapada and Krantinagar to build accountability among the workers there, and address issues faced by the community.
